Introduction to All About 'e'

Hello and welcome to “All About ‘e’. It is not really a blog, but it is a place for good ideas and shared information that we have discovered during our consulting practice. I hope that you find it enjoyable, entertaining, and informative and that it will help you and your organization ensure employee excellence in all that you do.

I am Rick Smith, President, Enterprise Design Group, a strategic business partner of Profiles International. Profiles International is the world leader in selecting and developing high-performance workforces through innovative human resource management solutions based upon a comprehensive range of employee assessments.   Enterprise Design Group is a business consulting practice that provides you all the tools and services that you will need in implementing your own HTML Strategy for Employee Excellence”

The idea for a blog about ‘e’ came to me after realizing there are many great words that begin with ‘e’ like excellence, efficiency, energy, enthusiasm, etc. During my career as a pilot in the US Navy, the Squadron that I served in was actually awarded an ‘e’ for efficiency. It is the most highly coveted award that any Navy unit can receive. Based on a yearlong evaluation, the competition for the award is, and has always been, extremely keen. To win, a unit must demonstrate the highest state of readiness and day-to-day demonstrated excellence in addition to superior achievement during qualifications conducted throughout the year.

So readers, here on a weekly basis, I will post articles of interest on excellence, efficiency, and enterprising new ideas. We will entertain and educate you with newsworthy bits of knowledge and content that will energize your enterprise and keep you engrossed. See how many great ‘e’ words there are! Sit back, enjoy the effort, and let us know if you like it. We welcome your comments, so please contact us with your thoughts or if you need additional information you may call us at 415-385-2377.

Employee Engagement Ratio?

Employee Engagement as a Core Strategy
cover page
The world’s top-performing organizations understand that employee engagement is a force that drives business outcomes. Research shows that engaged employees are more productive employees. They are more profitable, more customer-focused, safer, and more likely to withstand temptations to leave the organization. In the best organizations, employee engagement transcends a human resources initiative — it is the way they do business. Employee engagement is a strategic approach supported by tactics for driving improvement and organizational change. The best performing companies know that developing an employee engagement strategy and linking it to the achievement of corporate goals will help them win in the marketplace.

Linking Employee Engagement to Critical Business Outcomes Gallup’s latest meta-analysis (an analysis of data from more than 125organizations) shows  dramatic differences between top- and bottom-quartile workgroups on key business outcomes. It is through this meta-analysis that Gallup continues to validate the 12 elements. Beyond the dramatic difference engaged workgroups show in productivity, profitability, safety incidents, and absenteeism versus disengaged workgroups, Gallup has proven that engaged organizations have 2.6 times the earnings per share (EPS) growth ratecompared to organizations with lower engagement in their same industry.
